I think Joe R has found the real issue. I’ve just experienced this problem with my Legend – exactly the same symptoms and after using the unit with no problems for about 3 years. Noticed that several other people started getting problems after about the same period so a drained internal battery makes a lot of sense. As this is not a user-replaceable part, it would seem to give these units a 3 year lifespan, after which they need replacing – not great.

You have to press Hold + Home + the Up Volume Button

The phone restarts and everything is fine.

I found it on a message board 6 months ago when I had the white screen of death.

It also has worked when I started my phone up and the apple logo was frozen on it.

Apple doesn’t tell you this but this is the genius bar fix.

Thanks for this link.. it happened 3 times already.. and now i’m able to reset my unit.. think i will put that file on the memorycard, so i have it with me should it ever happen again.. a PC with a cardreader, and USB Cable will solve this problem once and for all

Dear Gage Gecko,

I had “no sattellite” message on my GPS. I think I did switch it on and off several time while driving. I just followed your instructions and succeeded to restore my GPS’s operation back. Thanks a lot for the hint and for posting such a very helpful information.
