This is really just a teaser for the the strategy guide that Prima Games produces for just about every game that comes out. I don’t buy them as I think the game should come with a full set of instructions and I don’t want to support this fleecing of the public. In fact after I “aquire” the guide via alternate means I typically share it with my friends. That’s right, sticking it to the man the best way I know how. Greedy smucks.

Anyway, this teaser is free to the public so feel free to download it and give it a look guilt free. Afterwards, maybe you can explain the whole guilt thing. Sounds fascinating.

It didn’t look like WSLS was going to put the video of the news broadcast that covered the MCI drill we had up on their website so I went ahead and encoded my own version. Well, it’s over. At times it was entertaining, at others it was frustrating but in the end it was a good experience. It’s over and I’m tired.

Thanks to everyone that came out for the drill. It went as smoothly as one could hope and what we learned today when can use tomorrow to help us become that much better. I’d rather make a few mistakes during a training exercise that be in that position when the feces hits the fan. All the volunteers were great. Couldn’t have possibly done it without you, kudos. Until next year, stay safe!

Blacksburg MCI Training Exercise

Here is some wallpaper I whipped up in Photoshop this evening. It’s packaged in both widscreen and standard format and I have included the PSD file for those that want to tweak it to their liking. Enjoy!

I went ahead and added a forum to the site. RoamingGecko over the years had a forum area but to be honest it was rarely used. I re-added them to the site mainly for the few people that choose to contact me through the forums as they have in the past. I will monitor them so feel free to use them as another way to contact me. One of the creatures I came up with tonight while playing with Spore. So much fun!

The town of Blacksburg, along with police, fire and rescue, will be holding a MCI (Mass Casualty Incident) drill for training purposes. We are looking for volunteers to serve as patients during the drill. Volunteers will be asked to fill various patient roles from chemical exposure to traumatic injury patients. Specific details are being intentionally withheld to make the training as realistic as possible for EMS professionals but your role should you choose to volunteer will be fully explained to you on that day. This may include, but not necessarily, your being transported via ambulance to Montgomery Regional Hospital and/or the outdoor decontamination tent stationed outside. It would be an understatement if I told you water might be involved. For an idea of what you can expect from agreeing to volunteer to serve as a patient for this exercise, please see the photos here. Well, I got a chance to play around with Spore this evening. Of course, I’m just talking about the creature creator. The actual game hasn’t been released yet. It’s was fun creating the various creatures and I have to say I am looking forward to playing the game once it’s released.

I think you could spend quite some time just seeing what you could come up with using the creature creator. Seems to be very intuitive and I was able to hit the ground running without having to read anything. It will be interesting to see what they come up with as far as game play goes but since I have liked all the previous Sim and Civilization games, I am sure this one will be worth the price of admission. Of course only time will tell if the game is any good or not but expectations are high.

I’m going through the Angel series again. I say again because this must be the third or fourth time I am watched it through from season one through five. It’s is day time soaps for geeks, absolutely.
