I have put back the link to the BES scanner stream on the main page. I would say this was back by popular demand but in reality only two people asked about the link.

To access the stream, click the link at the top of this web site titled “BES Scanner“.

Also, I have instructions on that page on how to get the RTSP protocol to work with Firefox if you are on a PC. Mac users shouldn’t have any problems at all launching the stream. If you have any questions you can comment here or on the BES Scanner page.

Cheers!

Clicking the image below will launch a Quicktime stream of 911 services radio here in Blacksburg, Virginia. Covering EMS, Fire and Police radio broadcasts.

Note:

The above is just an MP3 stream so you should be able to listen in with any audio player. I recommend iTunes or VLC.

This is the URL for the stream: http://128.173.84.110:8000/listen.m3u

If you are having trouble listening to the broadcast here are some quick instructions on opening it with the free media player, VLC.

1.) Launch VLC. You can download the app for Mac or PC from the following link… http://www.videolan.org/

2.) Click -> File -> Advanced Open File

3.) Click the Network tab and enter the URL for the stream… http://128.173.84.110:8000/listen.m3u

4.) Click Open

Instructions for iPhone/iPad/iPod users

First purchase TuneIn Radio Pro from the iTunes store. It’s only .99 cents and well worth it. Once you have it installed, launch the application.

1.) Click the Web icon in the lower right hand corner of the app.

2.) In the URL bar at the top of the page enter the following address;

http://128.173.84.110:8000/listen.m3u

… and then click the “Done” button.

3.) You should be connected to the stream at this point. Click the Heart icon with the plus symbol on the upper right of the screen. This will add it to your presets for easier selection in the future (See the blue arrow in the first TuneIn Pro image).

Enjoy!
